A Note From the Founder
I've worked with studios before that are so worried about churning out as many little acting "stars" as possible, that they shove kids into a bunch of plays before they're even able to read. While this type of performance-centered class can make parents feel good, seeing their little ones onstage, the ugly reality of that environment is that students spend so much of their time trying to memorize lines and blocking, that they have very little time to devote to truly developing their skills.
Most students will not pursue a career in theatre, and that is just fine! Developing skills in areas like creativity, communication, collaboration and self-confidence are far more important than performing in play after play. That's why at the Creative Drama Studio, we focus on creative drama activities for students at a young age, so they have plenty of opportunities to utilize their creativity and imaginations, communicate and collaborate with their peers, gain self-confidence, have fun, and experience the opportunity to perform without the pressure of excessive memorization. We then introduce acting classes to older students, mixed in with creative drama class options, so that students who want to pursue acting in school or beyond can continue to develop their acting skills and comfort with performing. In these classes, we use short monologues and duet scenes as opportunities to put these acting skills to use, so memorization is only a small part of the class.
We want your child to grow in areas that will help them succeed in life, regardless of the path they choose. To view our current class options, click the button below!
